	Since 1917, local Lions clubs have offered people just like you the opportunity to give something back to their community. Today, with over 1.4 million men and women, in almost 45,000 Lions Clubs, in more than 180 countries, Lions have expanded their focus to help meet the ever-increasing needs of our society. You can be one of them, by being one of us. As a member of the Coon Rapids Lions Club, you will become more aware of the needs of our community and have the advantage of effectively making a difference. Our Club provides volunteers with project management assistance, group leadership, personal development opportunities, and organizing fundraising activities. Being a Lion empowers you to help others in a way that no one person could do alone. Regardless of the country or language of your origin, your culture, race, religion, job, or the politics you espouse, we are all alike in that Lions are dedicated to seeking out and helping those in need. So, we want you! Now more than ever, people with vision and hearing problems, our senior community, the activities of our youth and schools and the disadvantaged here in Coon Rapids and around the world need your help. You can make a positive difference. By participating in our Coon Rapids Lions Club, you can help meet the pressing needs right here in Coon Rapids, in our State, our Nation and indeed around the world.
	As you become active and more knowledgeable about the needs of your community, through your association with the Coon Rapids Lions Club, you will be able to share your experience and pride of accomplishment with your friends and family. Few things can be as gratifying as bringing another person into your community of service. The person who gave you this brochure believes that you are the kind of person who could be a great asset to our Coon Rapids community that you have within you just the “right stuff” to be another Lion volunteer who will make a positive difference for the community that has benefited you and your family. You don’t have to do everything! A Lion will sponsor you and mentor you. This Lion will work with you and help you find an immediate niche for your talent and available time. Start out with some activity that suits your interests. From there, the world of Lionism awaits your personal motivation and capacity. Through Club activities and meetings you will receive the inspiration you need to move forward to help your community. Start small. But, Just become a Volunteer! now, so that you can start making a difference today.

	We meet about 4 times per month, each for a different reason. All of our meetings are on Wednesday evenings. The 1st Wednesday of the month is dedicated to identifying and funding community needs. The 2nd Wednesday is a Board and General Membership meeting, where Club policies are set. The 3rd is devoted to considering our major fundraising activities. And the 4th is our Dinner Meeting and a social and awards event, where great fun and camaraderie is the order of the day. Sometimes we bring our spouses. You can come to all. But you should come to at least one. Lions do better when they stay connected to other Club members at least once a month. Your sponsor will bring you. The Dinner Meetings are held at the Coon Rapids VFW; (see above map) and the food is great. Ask your Lion sponsor to take you to Dinner! You may wish to attend other member-gatherings, centered around our many activities, which are scheduled throughout the year.
